How did you get involved with Campus Outreach?

The summer before my junior year at Liberty University was a tumultuous, yet ultimately soul saving time for me. God brought me to my knees and showed me my need for him. I came back to campus in the fall of 2018 with a newfound passion for the Word and was hungry to grow. At that time, I remembered a campus ministry that had been introduced to me while on Liberty's debate team freshman year. That ministry was Campus Outreach. After getting connected through their website, I started meeting regularly with Brandon Miller, and getting plugged in with the weekly meetings. Eventually, I attended the New Year's Conference and then Alpha Project as a room leader in 2019.

What do you love most about Debate?

I love debate for so many reasons. It's an outlet for my competitive drive, it's honed my communication skills, and I've learned tons about so many different subjects while competing. But I think my absolute favorite thing about my time spent in speech and debate is the community I've grown with. When I was about 12, my parents put me in a debate camp that I absolutely hated at first. But by the end of the first week, I fell in love with public speaking and debate and haven't looked back since. All throughout high school and college, competitive speech and debate became my "sport" the same way my friends did baseball and basketball. Most of my closest friends I've made in my life have come from various moot court and debate competitions. Through 3 AM discussions, long flights, tears, laughter, and conflict, my teammates and I have pushed each other to be smarter, kinder, and wiser as iron sharpens iron.

What was your favorite thing about attending Liberty University?

I would have answered this question differently every single year of attendance. And I think that shows the incredible growth God put me through while attending LU. Each class was a new opportunity to learn something about the way God gifted me and the world He placed me in. So I think long story short, my favorite thing about LU was the sheer amount of different opportunities I had while attending. The food was also a nice perk. Having Chic Fil A on my dining plan definitely contributed to my "freshman fifteen."

What are three words that describe you?
